Dan Wing

Dan Wing is a new member at Vine Arts Center, but he's been secretly making art for 20 years.  After a fairly heated engagement with the art world in the 80’s, Dan found himself on hiatus until a couple of years ago when he found the need to actually create his ideas.  This show includes old favorites, but has an emphasis on his more recent explorations.  The work is
multidisciplinary : paintings, drawings, sculptures, and recycled periodicals that maneuver stylistically between visceral surrealism and formalist abstraction.

"No matter how hard human beings try to separate ourselves from the world, the world conspires to assimilate us. I am simultaneously attracted and repulsed by the incongruity of the human effect in the landscape and on the natural environment. For me, art provides a method in which to reconcile this dichotomy, and examine my relationship with the world populated by seemingly alien beings."
