Mythic Dreaming: Encounters with Love and Death

Running Dates: November 11- December 9, 2023

The Vine Arts Center, in partnership with the Mythic Art Circle, is pleased to present “Mythic Dreaming: Encounters with Love and Death”, an exhibition of paintings, mixed media and digital works that invite the audience to venture into dreamscapes where Love and Death ignite.

Humans yearn to love and be loved.

Humans also know they are fated to die.

Love and Death merge in the landscapes of myth and dream.

The artists of Mythic Art Circle believe inspiration to face the present moment is found in the timeless stories of myth.Together, they have transformed these ideas into a visual feast. From reinterpretations of the Dream of Love, to the intersection of Death and Life, their artworks beckon the viewer to cross the liminal into the realm of imagination.

Opening Event: Saturday, November 11, 2023-- 7-10 pm. Event will include snacks & beverages, vending by the artists and a short ritual theatre experience to open and bless this exhibition, featuring masked ritualists.

Mid-exhibition Event: Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

Local storyteller Steven Posch will present a performance of original and traditional stories and songs. Family friendly event. Performance will begin approximately at 7 p.m. An ASL interpreter will be on hand for this performance, courtesy of the Vine Arts Center.

Closing Event: Saturday, December 9, 2023-- 7-10 pm.

Features a Masked Ball open to all, inviting costumes interpreting all combinations of myth, dream, love and/or death! Musical selection provided by DJs Mike and Karolyn Wells.
